I couldn’t even tell you how many times in my career a curvy woman has asked me if she’s “allowed” to participate in a boudoir shoot.
“I’m plus size, will I still look okay?”
“I’m fat, so I can’t do something like this, I wish!”
“I know this isn’t for chunky girls, but I thought I’d try anyway…”
“Will I look stupid if I do a shoot.. I’m a size 24”
“I have rolls, and I jiggle, this type of photoshoot isn’t for girls like me”
I could go on and on and on.
Every time I read something like this, it truly saddens me because that just means that circumstances and society has taught us that there are two different types of women.
One: Thin
Two: Curvy
Let me be perfectly honest and clear – I see YOU. I do not see your jean size, I don’t see your weight on a scale.
I see how you smile, I see the quirks, I see the potential, I see the beauty, I see YOU.
So when society teaches us that we aren’t worthy of self love because we’ve got a few extra rolls, that’s when I have a problem.
My goal in this life is to SHOW you, all of you, no matter what, how damn beautiful you are JUST HOW YOU ARE.
Regardless of the things that you see as a problem.
So we change the question from: “I’m plus size, can I do this?” to “I can’t wait to celebrate ME, where do I sign up?”
