Reasons why women book a Boudoir photoshoot | Orange County Boudoir Photographer

August 23, 2019

Many of the reasons why women book their boudoir photoshoot may surprise you. Although some women book their sessions to coincide with an event such as an upcoming wedding, anniversary or birthday, it is by far the most popular reason. The important thing to remember is no matter what the reason, there is never a wrong time to book a Boudoir session. And believe it or not, you don’t NEED a reason to book this life changing experience. I’ve listed the four main reasons from most popular reason, to least popular reason.

No. 1: To heal from a past trauma.
Boudoir as a big part of the healing process for my babes who have gone through a traumatic experience;  Many of my clients have shared with me a traumatic event in their lives as the driving force behind why they booked their shoots. In a sense, what I do is not just take pretty photos; I’m a therapist, I’m a shoulder to lean on, and most importantly, I’m a friend. Boudoir brings self respect and dignity back to those who feel that they have lost that part of themselves. For me, as a photographer, there is nothing more rewarding than showing my clients that they are stronger than they think, that they are a force to be reckoned with, and that they have fight in them still. My job is to allow you to finally see the goddess that’s been buried deep inside of you.

No. 2: To find your self-identity once again.
Boudoir as a way to remind you that you are not just a “mom” or a “wife”:  Sometimes, we get caught up in the roles of our lives. Some of my clients have expressed that they are so busy with being a wife and a mother, that they feel like there is no time just for them. They lose themselves as an individual, as a woman. Between work, home life, kids and school, soccer practice and family responsibilities, there just isn’t much time for self care. Experiences like a Boudoir shoot are one way to remind yourself that you are first and foremost a woman with her own individuality, a mom and wife second.

No. 3: To find the sexy side of you that you thought was lost.
I used to feel like a shell of a person. I got so caught up with life, the routine, and the day to day, that I felt like I wasn’t a sexy, empowered woman anymore. I didn’t know how to get her back either. I didn’t even know where to begin to look.  I know that we get stuck sometimes. As women, we never put ourselves first, and we fall into a routine, aka, a trap. Sometimes we gain weight, sometimes we lose weight, sometimes we are having problems in our relationships that leave us feeling less than desirable. But what I have learned in the business, is that you need to focus on really FEELING sexy, and feeling beautiful for YOU. We can’t rely on others to uphold our feelings of sexy. We need to depend on ourselves. When you know you’re beautiful, you are unstoppable.

No 4: To share with your significant other.
Some women book their sessions for the other important person in their life.  I have had women do their shoot in secret so it can be a surprise “gift” and I have had those who have added their significant other to the shoot so they can share in the experience. The most important thing I do is remind my clients that although boudoir is an incredible gift to a significant other, it’s even more of a gift to yourself.

Don’t forget, that you NEVER need a reason to celebrate you. You are reason enough, and you are incredible. So let’s celebrate you, now.
